Novation introduced the Circuit Tracks compact standalone groovebox based on the Circuit model released in 2015. The novelty differs from the original device by its support for more tracks, an improved sequencer, and wider switching capabilities. Novation Circuit Tracks allows you to trigger audio clips and audio samples, create synth parts, work with MIDI files, use FX effects (reverb, delay, compressor) and use programmable macros. The instrument has two built-in polyphonic synthesizers with a set of presets, as well as a 32-step sequencer.

The model has 32 velocity and pressure-sensitive RGB pads, 10 knobs, and 28 buttons. The groovebox can communicate with external MIDI equipment and work with SD cards. The device is equipped with a built-in battery, thanks to which fully autonomous use is supported (up to 4 hours). For connection there are 2 TRS inputs, 2 TRS outputs, Sync Out, headphone output, MIDI In / Out / Thru, USB.

Samples can apparently be edited extensively, at least the phrase “sculpt them to suit your style” suggests. And not only that! Circuit Tracks also supports resampling. You can load your own samples from a microSD card, then shape them to perfection across drum tracks.

The Grid FX are intended to underline the suitability for performance, which also arouses curiosity. The surface looks almost identical, MIDI tracks and synthesizer tracks are missing. Instead, there are probably eight tracks for sample playback. Would be cool if MIDI can still be output (the MIDI-Out suggests it) and the tonal play of samples is possible (I assume that).

Circuit Tracks takes you places, whether in the studio, on stage or off the grid. Rugged, compact build and a rechargeable battery makes Circuit Tracks the perfect travel partner, so it’s never too far away when inspiration hits.
